What a bargain! They would only have to sell a million tickets at $100K a piece to break even. There's probably enough central planning fans in the DC to NYC to Boston corridor to make that feasible.

No one wants to travel by rail, why do you think Amtrak is always losing money?

This should have happened already, we are far behind the rest of the world when it comes to travel by rail.

As I recall around 30 years ago many millions were spent upgrading the route along I-95.Around 1980 Amtrack moved their maintenance operations from Rhode Island to Albany. Good for trains to Chicago and Canada.Ten Years After, Congress moved the Pork Barrel back to New England!

From Hartford East I-84 is a bunch of short segments that do not connect CT has switched around route numbers between I-84 and I-81,so many ti8mes some are back where the were originally!. CT's old plans directed I-84 cross the RI state line in the middle of the biggest fresh watrer reservoir in RI where Rhode Island did not want either construction or traffic going through their drinking water supply. An undeveloped area goodfor fishing and vacations

Being technically possible does not mean that it is economically viable. However, when one looks at the costs of major highway or airport construction in the New York City area, this may provide a competitive service.

But we need a radical route for a bullet train to run at speed. The cost will be the deciding factor.

Amtrack is so mismanaged that they pay $16.00 for a hamburger and sell it for $9.00. For a company to pay $16.00 for a hamburger means that the leadership should be fired and Macdonalds or Burger King should take over and they could probably run Amtrack better too.

I hope they come up with the money before building it rather than hoping it comes when needed. Otherwise it might be one of those wastes of money...

I think it's a great idea- build it!! There is no way this country will ever be able to move forward and progress for the future if we don't start making bold moves now. If our former leaders thought like these idiots of today we would not have paved roads and highways or train tracks to transport people and the goods that we use every day! Wake up people- what are we going to leave for our grandchildren and great grandchildren?!!

Who is going to foot the bill for this boondoggle? They are guessing 100 billion now but actual cost most likely will be 5-10 times more after all of the kickbacks & overruns.
